How to distinguish between true faith and superstition?

True faith is to lose first and gain later, while superstition is the opposite. I believe that many Buddhist disciples, like me, regard the Buddha as an experienced teacher. True faith is to learn and practice the teacher's teachings. Superstition is the opposite.
